Dinka (South Sudanese) Congregation

The Dinka-language congregation of St Philip's meets on Sundays at 1.00pm.

These Anglican services are largely in the Bor Dinka language of South Eastern Sudan.

The English-language and Dinka congregations also share combined services, especially on festival days such as Pentecost. Both languages are used in the combined services, with hymns in Dinka and English, Bible readings in both languages and the sermon interpreted from English to Dinka. We joyfully gather together at the Lord's Table and share enriching fellowship.

St Philip's rector, the Revd Rebecca Newland, preaches and presides at Holy Communion for the Dinka congregation a number of times each year. Dinka leaders preach at other times and lead all the services.

The Dinka congregation first gathered at St Philip's on Sunday 1 May 2011, St Philip's Day.
