Day Thirteen — Wednesday

Kneeler 124

Psalm 31

In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me.

2 Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily.
Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me.

3 You are indeed my rock and my fortress;
for your name's sake lead me and guide me,

4 take me out of the net that is hidden for me,
for you are my refuge.

5 Into your hand I commit my spirit;
you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.

From: Prayer at Night: A Book for the Darkness, Jim Cotter, Cairns publications, 1988, p.12:

The angels of God guard us through the night,
and quieten the powers of darkness.

The Spirit of God be our guide
to lead us to peace and to glory.

People of God, be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil as a roaring lion prowls about, seeking someone to devour; him withstand, steadfast in the faith.

Our help is in the name of the eternal God,
who is making the heavens and the earth.

Dear God, thank you for all that is good,
for our creation and our humanity,
for the stewardship you have given us of this planet earth,
for the gifts of life and of one another,
for your Love which is unbounded and eternal…

["whom withstand" changed to "him withstand" (Ed.)]
