St Philip's Care
We believe that, in Jesus Christ, every human need can be tackled — for the body, the soul and the human spirit. Our Lord commands us to work to meet human needs in service to Him.
St Philip's offers service and care in many ways. Some of them are described below, with links to pages that have more information. However, if some other kind of care is better suited to your needs, we may be able to refer you.
If you need the help of a Priest call the Parish Office on (02) 6161 7334 for a message that will tell you who to contact and their number.
- Pastoral care
St Philip's has a team of people, led by the Rector, that offers pastoral care to Parish members and others who need fellowship and a helping hand. Other St Philip's people also help with particular needs.
- Pandora's Pre-loved Fashions
Pandora's Pre-loved Fashions @ O'Connor sells good quality used clothing and shoes, for women, men and children at affordable prices.
- St Philip's Aged Care Ministry.
St Philip's offers a weekly communion service at the Kankinya aged care facilty & a fortnightly communion service at Sir Lesley Morshead Manor in Lyneham. We seek to care for the residents as members of our church family.
- Food donations for St John's Care.
St Philip's is taking up the challenge to supporting the work of St John's Care, in our neighbouring parish of Reid. Learn more and find out how you can help, whether through St Philip's or directly.
Our mission projects support practical help, as well as Christian witness, locally, in Australia and overseas.
- Lamerton Centre.
This new building gives us more space for fellowship, care and service.
- Northbourne Community Centre.
Each Monday for more than 22 years each Monday, the Centre provided a free nourishing lunch, together with physical and emotional support in a friendly, caring atmosphere — for low income/disadvantaged people of all ages. In 2018, the buildings that housed the Centre were demolished and it closed. Read the story of the Centre and Deacon Robin's ministry there.
