About St Philip's

"Come and see" said Jesus' friend Philip when Nathaniel asked him about Jesus. It was Philip who introduced the boy with the loaves and fish to Jesus. Later Philip welcomed some Greek visitors who were looking for Jesus. Philip also asked Jesus about the way to the Father.

We invite you to "come and see" what the good news of Jesus Christ is all about here at St Philip's!

Who are we?

St Philip's is in inner north Canberra near the Australian National University and the City. (Address and map here.) The church has grown with the O'Connor area since the beginning of the suburb and has been a spiritual home for many.

Our services are in the Anglican tradition. The services are friendly and relaxed, while valuing our liturgical and musical heritage.

We have a strong commitment to outreach and connection to the immediate community. Our members care deeply about social justice and the environment.

We value and embrace diversity and are committed to helping all people grow in the Christian faith.

We are liberal thinkers and inclusive in outlook, committed to God's good news made known in Jesus Christ. With the guidance of the Spirit we seek new ways to serve God.

At St Philip's …

We glorify God and make disciples by creating a community where we live the love of Christ.

Our mission is to …

Connect people who are disconnected into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

As we follow Christ we value …

Inclusion: we respect the individual and embrace and honour diversity.

Relevance: we promote Christ as central for our community, our world and ourselves.

Caring: we share Christ's love through welcome, hospitality, service and stewardship.

Relationships: we build nurturing connections with God, each other and the wider community.

Worship: We provide a space for people to celebrate and grow in the healing love and grace of Christ.

We strive for …

A relationship with the triune God that is personal and daily.

A relationship with others that is respectful and caring.

A relationship with the world that engages neighbours and nations.

A commitment to worship, fellowship and service.
