Day Eleven

Kneeler 125

Luke 6

36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37 "Do not judge and you will not be judged;
do not condemn, and you will not be condemned,
Forgive, and you will be forgiven;

38 give, and it will be given to you.
A good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap;
for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

profligate with wild abandon god,
recklessly extravagant god…

In this wild abandon of words and thoughts and generosity of spirit let's turn to Gerard Manley Hopkins: PIED BEAUTY

Glory be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut falls; finches' wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced — fold, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.
