John 12

23 Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

24 Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Philippians 2

5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

6 Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited,

7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness,
And being found in human form,

8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross.

Drained is love in making full,
bound in setting others free
poor in making many rich
weak in giving power to be.

Therefore he who shows us God
helpless hangs upon the tree
and the nails and crown of thorns
tell of what God's love must be.

Here is God: no monarch he,
throned in easy state to reign;
here is God, whose arms of love,
aching, spent, the world sustain.
